RECIPE: The Purple Haze Gin and Tonic​

The Purple Haze Gin and Tonic

Servings 1 cocktail

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 ounces Cape Fear Maritime Gin
  • ½ ounce lavender-butterfly pea tea syrup
  • 4 ounces artisanal tonic water
  • 1 fresh basil leaf
  • 1 wedge fresh grapefruit

Lavender- Butterfly Pea Syrup

  • 3 ounces sugar
  • 3 ounces water
  • 1 small pinch of dry lavender buds
  • 1 small pinch of butterfly pea tea powder (available online)

Instructions
 

  • Make the Cocktail
  • Fill a 10 ounces tall Collins glass with ice.
  • In a cocktail shaker, add 1 cup of ice, the gin and the lavender-butterfly pea tea syrup the
  • Shake well and strain into the glass.
  • Smack the basil leaf in your palm to extract its oils. Finish with tonic and grapefruit. Enjoy!

Make the Syrup

  • Add all ingredients to a small sauce, bring to a boil then strain with a fine mesh strainer
